Reflective Observations on Sustainability Practices within the CLC Living Laboratory
Touring the indoor and outdoor living lab trail at CLC is a great way to see and learn about sustainability. Having had the opportunity to visit, I would like to give my observations. For example, I saw a hoop house organic garden and solar panels installed on buildings. Such features show a college's dedication to encouraging sustainable practices and lowering its carbon footprint. I believe that a college's commitment to sustainability is crucial. At my previous employment, we ran several programs to cut down on waste and conserve resources. These included energy-efficient appliances, recycling initiatives, and promotion of carpooling and public transit use. Daily, I make an effort to be environmentally friendly by switching off lights when not using them, utilizing recyclable bags and water bottles, minimizing energy use with energy-efficient equipment, and engaging in responsible consumption by sourcing goods locally whenever possible. Sustainability and wellness are related because sustainable practices make communities and people's surroundings healthier, which promotes overall wellness.
